The CAD/CAM lab is located on the third floor of the National Institute for Aviation Research building on the campus of Wichita State University. With four labs and more than 50 computer terminals, the CAD/CAM laboratory at NIAR is one of the largest university-based teaching facilities in the United States.

The labs feature the latest versions of CATIA and related software. CATIA, short for Computer-Aided Three-Dimensional Interactive Applications, is the primary CAD/CAM software program used in the aircraft industry.

When university classes are in session, the CAD/CAM labs are open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Otherwise they are open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. They are closed on all university holidays. However, students have the option of attaining an access card that allows for 24/7 access to the labs.
